If there are friendly merchants, militia, or confeds there, they'll help you finish off the hunters. Just burn all the way to another Nav point. If you set your shield level one below the engine level, you have unlimited AB, as long as you're not shooting. Oh, and here's another tip: If your weapons can't kill those hunters, try this - engage them, then select Nav to another point and drive directly to it in Afterburner. You won't get money for the mission, but it will clear off the mission list. so turn on Invulnerability and Unlimited ammo, kill those nasty hunters, and land. The way to clear the mission is to fly it and complete it. I ran into this snag too, while I was still flying around in a Tarsus. Also, is there a way to cancel missions? i have 2 going that I have no hope of beating anytime soon (3 hunters w/WBODs) and it's affecting my ability to navigate the system. Why? They punch hard, but still not consume much energy, and also fly faster to the objetive than other weapons.Īnd very important, if your ship allow it, mount a "double" missile launcher and equip 20 FF missiles, shot 2 missiles quickly to an enemy and see it explode!!! About weapons, TACHYONS, forget about any other thing. in the ORION you can have very powerfull shields, in the CENTURION not so powerfull but still good ones. But definitevily the best ship in the game with much difference to beat the constant enemies that want to kick your ass towards the end is the CENTURION.Ībout shields, yes, upgrade it. If you like trade but want to play also the campaign, buy the ORION, is much better for combat than the GALAXY and still capable of beat the campaign. is a shitty spaceship for the campaign, it´s just good for carry things. but if you´re stubborn as me to finish ecery chapter you missed years ago in the saga, then forget about the GALAXY. totally crap (at the end i just played with Tachyon guns.)įor trading is a boring game, for combat is a mess. But Privateer?Įmpty universe, repetitive missions, GOOD gameplay (it´s a wing commander) but with horrible mission designs, just 4 ships and only 1 and a half useful (Centurion and Orion), cancelled missions just for stop a planet that dont let you continue the plot, very few upgrades, and many of it. And i though now maybe i see the game with other eyes, as i re-played recently WC1 and 2 and playing the third one for first time and i enjoying it so much. It was a gift from a friend and i was so happy until i played it for many hours finding all the issues the game has. i jut finished because when i got it years ago totally dissapointed me. Slapped a Shield Generator 2 on it, and you guessed it, 2-3 hits from WBOD, followed by a couple more to render me immobile and for all purposes dead.Īlso, is there a way to cancel missions? i have 2 going that I have no hope of beating anytime soon (3 hunters w/WBODs) and it's affecting my ability to navigate the system. Is this a similar item to the Engine Upgrade, that actually has nothing to do with your engine whatsoever and instead upgrades your power plant?Īlso did one better and bought a Galaxy, which according to the salesman has the best armor and shields available. I am wondering, therefore, what I just spent 30,000 credits on, as it obviously wasn't shield strength. after 2-3 hits my shields go down, after which my maneuvering jets get destroyed, leaving me a sitting duck and waiting for death. So I go out for a field test, only to find. I've been spending almost all my time in Troy and the majority of the enemies seem to have one of two weapon types: red lasers which are laughably weak, and what i call the White Balls of Doom (WBOD), which take down your shields in 2-3 hits then almost always take out your maneuvering jets, leaving you a sitting duck and waiting for death.Īfter much scrimping and saving and only fighting WBODs if there was a single enemy present, I saved up enough for Shield Generator 2! Naturally my thought was "Wow, I'll totally be able to take at least 3 times as many hits from WBODs since the generator costs 3 times as much! Awesome!"
